Contemporary architects, designers, and builders are faced with a myriad of options when specifying surface materials.
A steadily increasing focus on the health, safety, and welfare of building occupants, growing environmental concerns over the impacts of materials on human health, their performance, sources, manufacturing, and transportation, combined with traditional aesthetic considerations, can make decision-making complex and challenging.
To help inform this decision-making process, this course begins with an overview of the characteristics of a range of contemporary surfaces, and the pros and cons of each of those materials.
